RANDOLPH — The Randolph Fire Department extinguished a working fire in a home on Friday afternoon.
At about 1:44 p.m. on May 22, the Randolph Fire Department received a call reporting a fire at 9 Birchwood Road.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and fire showing from a 1 1/2-story, wood-frame home. No residents were home at the time.
Firefighters stretched two hose lines into the home and made an aggressive interior attack on a fire in a bedroom that extended into the attic. The home suffered heavy smoke and water damage throughout.
There were no reported injuries.
Five residents of the home will be displaced.
Firefighters from Holbrook provided mutual aid at the scene, and firefighters from Milton, Stoughton and Braintree covered Randolph Fire stations.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Randolph Fire Department with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, but it appears to be accidental.
“Crews did an excellent job with an aggressive transitional and interior attack to extinguish this fire,” said Chief of Operations Paul Frew. “I want to thank mutual aid companies who provided support.”
