RANDOLPH — Chief Ronald Cassford reports that the Randolph Fire Department extinguished a fire at a home on North Harriette Street on Saturday.
On Saturday, Sept. 28, at approximately 11:07 a.m., Randolph Fire responded to a report of a house fire at 37 North Harriette St. All residents evacuated the house on their own before firefighters arrived.
Crews located the fire in a bedroom in the basement of the 1 1/2-story wood frame, single-family house. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire within 20 minutes of arrival.
While the fire was contained to the basement bedroom, there is smoke and heat damage throughout the house.
Six residents are temporarily displaced due to the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
No residents or firefighters were injured as a result of the fire.
Holbrook Fire provided mutual aid at the scene of the fire. During the incident, a Braintree Fire engine covered the Town’s Central Station, and a Milton Fire engine and Avon Fire tower covered the North Randolph fire station.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the cause of the fire was electrical. The fire remains under investigation by the Randolph Fire investigation unit.
“I’d like to commend our crews that responded to the scene and made quick work of the fire to contain it to a single room in the basement,” Chief Cassford said. “Thank you to our mutual aid partners who responded to the scene and provided station coverage during the incident.”
